A deep clean focuses on areas that routine wiping and sweeping can miss: edges, buildup, accessible fixtures and the surfaces behind everyday belongings. It does not mean every object needs the strongest chemical or that every appliance should be dismantled. Use this checklist to identify the work your home needs and agree a manageable scope.
Separate cleaning from repairs. A leaking tap, damaged grout or peeling cabinet finish needs attention beyond removing dirt. Mark those issues before you start, and keep manufacturer care instructions available for delicate surfaces.
Prepare before moving room to room
- Put away documents, valuables and loose objects so surfaces are accessible.
- Identify fragile finishes and furniture that cannot be moved safely.
- Choose products suitable for each material and follow their labels. Do not mix cleaning products.
- Keep separate cloths for kitchen and bathroom tasks, and plan ventilation and drying.
